Gestalt and Contrast

 WELCOME! To the first week of Design Principles. With Gestalt and Contrast as the first set of principles, I have done some exploration on the idea of Gestalt and Contrast. Below are the images that inspired me towards the final outcome. GESTALT What is Gestalt? The ability of the human mind to complete an incomplete image, visually. Not only an incomplete image, it can also be an organized whole perceived as a specific "pattern" or a "configuration". It can be expressed in many different techniques like figure ground, proximity, continuation and closure. Like the first image above, the green squares stand out only because our brain recognizes the squares as a configuration. The randomness is perceived and a pattern is formed. FINAL OUTCOME The final outcome for Gestalt involves the use of two conventional materials; White and Black paper. The intention behind this arrangement of shapes is to create continuation.
